As part of an elite product development team, the Manager of Hardware Engineering is responsible for leading Avvasi's Hardware Engineering team which is responsible for full board-level hardware design as well as full systems design and qualification. Hardware designs at Avvasi are characterized by dense high-speed and high-performance digital design requirements, energy efficiency, and carrier-grade reliability and scalability. The application domain of Avvasi's products is telecom rack-mounted systems with focus on advanced network packet processing, advanced video/media processing, and high-performance platform systems and interfaces. Some of the specific responsibilities include: - Manage a focused and highly competent group of hardware engineers - Manage the development of all hardware engineering projects and processes including: o board-level design o electro-mechanical design o PCB layout o systems, board-level, and mechanical component engineering including component selection, sourcing, and qualification o compliance engineering o associated vendor relationships - Daily interaction with product management, systems engineering, applications engineering, QA and manufacturing - Evaluate/select associated tools, technologies - Manage associated vendor relationships - Actively engage with manufacturing to ensure smooth and predictable release process. The candidate must have demonstrated experience in high-performance digital hardware design, carrier-grade rack-mounted systems design, and team leadership and management within a larger inter-disciplinary engineering and product development team. Specific technical expertise for the role includes: - Demonstrated experience in board-level hardware design, including: o high-speed digital design (differential multi-GHz signaling, SI, PI) o board component engineering (selection, qualification, and relationships) o schematic design and capture o logic design, timing design, simulation, and verification o DFM, DFT, EMI, ESD, and reliable manufactured systems design principles o prototyping and hardware lab bring-up and qualification - Demonstrated experience in system-level hardware design and qualification, including: o carrier-grade and/or high-reliability systems o mechanical, thermal, air-flow, vibration, and related systems issues o system component engineering (selection, qualification, and relationships) - Working knowledge of manufacturing and systems QA operations The candidate should also have significant experience (5+ years) leading a hardware engineering team including: - Employee skills development and performance evaluations - Project management including planning, task and resource assignment, risk mitigation and contingency planning - Efficiently identifying and solving problems - Status and project reporting - Interviewing and hiring The candidate should also meet the following core requirements: - Highly organized, motivated, and execution-oriented - Must have excellent and well developed inter-personal skills - Must be a leader who is comfortable working in a high-pressure technical environment - Demonstrated ability for continuous learning, creativity, and problem solving - Demonstrated strategic and tactical planning capabilities, as well as a well-developed ability to actively prioritize a large number of competing activities - Excellent oral and written communication skills The following competencies are highly desirable: - Working knowledge of Linux and embedded firmware systems - Working knowledge of global regulatory and telecom industry compliance procedures including safety, EMC, NEBS, hazardous materials, energy and waste efficiency, and related disciplines - Working experience with manufacturing systems and well-developed interaction with engineering and manufacturing contractors/vendors - Experience with video, audio, image, and compression processing technologies - Experience with Internet, wireline, and wireless networking protocols and technologies .aioe{position:absolute;clip:rect(471px,auto,auto,471px);} Apply here payday loans
