Job Summary The Release Manager is responsible for developing and implementing release process and procedures that are responsive to business needs and that help ensure overall software quality. Responsibilities - Manages release practices that facilitate rapid development and deployment for both planned and emergency software releases, while ensuring overall software quality and process efficiency. - Assesses weaknesses in current versioning and release methodology, optimize branching model and other supporting structures, recommend and implement areas for improvement. - Promotes code across various computing environments, including Development, QA and Production systems. - Reinforces the use of the code repository and assist developers with branching strategy. - Develops scripts to support process automation and other release objectives. - Drives and acts as the process owner for release management and associated processes, captures and distributes associated metrics. - Assist with the development of supporting and related processes, such as change management and configuration management. - Develops and maintains supporting documentation. - Guides and mentors release analyst(s). - Implement and maintain workflows in tools that support various processes including, but not limited to, release management. Required Skills and Experience - 5-10 years experience working in a Software development environment utilizing a variety of development and platform technologies. - 3-5 years experience is software release management., including 1-2 years experience as a release manager. - Required familiarity with development methodologies, tools supporting RM (Jira) including automated builds and testing, bug and issue tracking software, ITIL or other industry best practices, expert knowledge of CVS, Subversion, Unix/Windows scripting. - Deal with multiple priorities, consider tradeoffs and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. - Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. - Champion process improvement initiatives. - Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills. - Leadership and coaching skills. - Negotiation skills. - Motivated, tenacious, with a passion for delivery. - Customer service orientation. - Pleasant and accommodating to shifting demands and priorities.
